ImageAllan C. Harrington, M.D. is a graduate of Harvard College and Dartmouth Medical School. He is Board Certified in Dermatology.  Dr. Harrington completed his residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. In addition, he completed a two year Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts He is a member of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Harrington is the former Director of Skin Cancer Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and is currently Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University. ImageMarjorie B. Gwynn, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Interdisciplinary Biochemistry from the University of Florida. She proceeded to graduate in the top 30% of her class from the University of Florida Medical School.  Dr. Gwynn completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Residency in Dermatology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.  While in the military she completed Flight Surgery school and served with helicopter squadrons in Norfolk, VA.  Before a honorable discharge as a Commander from the United States Navy she served on the teaching staff at the combined Walter Reed/National Naval Medical Center dermatology residency training program for three years.  While there she also had the privilege to be one of the Dermatology Consultants to the Office of the Attending Physician at the US Capitol.

Dr Gwynn joined Anne Arundel Dermatology in 2001.  She is a fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology and Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  Her practice is open to all general dermatology questions adult and pediatric.

ImageWendy Lee, M.D. graduated from Smith College and received her Medical Degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After completing her Internship in Medicine and Residency in Dermatology at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD and her Dermatopathology Fellowship training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, D.C., she served as a staff Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. She had the distinction of being the Dermatology Consultant to the Office of the Attending Physician at the U.S. Capitol for the Congress and Supreme Court Justices, on the teaching staff for the Walter Reed/National Naval Medical Center Dermatology residency training program, Director of Dermatopathology and Assistant Professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Lee is Board Certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology and is a member of the Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Lee was honorably discharged from the United States Navy with the rank of Commander in the summer of 2004, and joined Anne Arundel Dermatology in the practice of medical and surgical Dermatology (adult and pediatric), Dermatopathology, laser and cosmetic services.

ImageMary Farley, M.D. graduated from the University of Notre Dame and University of South Dakota School of Medicine.  Dr. Farley completed a transitional internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and her Dermatology Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Dr. Farley did her fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center.  She is a fellow of the American Board of Dermatology, a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and a member of the Uniformed Services of Dermatology.  Dr. Farley is the author of several publications and has held presentations during the Regional and National Meetings.  During the year of 2005 she was selected for the Best Doctors in America honor which only 5% of physicians receive and was given the Retired Officer Association Medal.

ImageSammy Kang, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Dr. Kang completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital and residency in Dermatology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.  He has authored several articles in scholarly medical journals, and has presented cases at the Maryland Dermatologic Society's annual meetings.  He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.   He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  His practice focuses on medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology, with a special interest in early detection and surgical treatment of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers.

ImageKelly McGuigan, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University, Philadelphia, PA graduating magna cum laude. She graduated summa cum laude from Jefferson Medical College, Philidelphia, PA.  She did her internship in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is the nation's first hospital.  She completed her Dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson University.  Dr. McGuigan has published several articles in scholarly journals.  She has done clinical presentations as well as presented her research at national meetings such as the annual American Academy of Dermatology meeting, The American Society of Human Genetics conference, and The International Society of Dermatopathology conference.  Dr. McGuigan is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology.  Dr. McGuigan's office is open to medical and surgical dermatology (adult and pediatric) as well as numerous cosmetic services.

ImageCheryl L. Lonergan, M.D. graduated with honors from Cornell University and received her medical degree from the University of Virginia.  While in medical school, she received numerous awards for both academics and patient care and was elected to the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.  Dr. Lonergan completed both her Dermatology residency and Dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA where she is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology.  Dr Lonergan is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Medical Dermatology Society, Women's Dermatologic Society and the American Society of Dermatopathology, and she is board certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.  She has authored a number of articles and textbook chapters and currently serves as a reviewer for a scholarly journal in the field of Otolaryngology.  Dr. Lonergan's practice focuses on medical and surgical dermatology (adult and pediatric) as well as dermatopathology.

Howland Hartley, M.D. graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine.  Dr. Hartley completed his pediatric training at the Children's Medical Center, Medical College of Virginia where he received the Martin Hoffman Memorial Award for Overall Excellence in Pediatric Residency.  He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan Hospital.  Dr. Hartley is a member of the American Board of Dermatology, American Academy of Pediatrics, The Royal Society of Medicine, District of Columbia Dermatologic Society, American Medical Association, Medical and Chirurgical Faculty at Maryland and the Dermatology Foundation.

He has a wealth of editorial experience in manuscript review for the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Annals of Allergy.  Dr. Hartley's practice is open to clinical adult and pediatric dermatology.

ImageJanet Benton, CRNP completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at George Mason University, and her masters in Nursing at George Mason University in collaboration with George Washington University School of Medicine.  Her experience includes Fairfax Hospital in Annandale, VA in the Open Heart ICU, Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Washington, DC in the Emergency Department, and with Dr. Robert Berger, Waldorf, MD as a Nurse Practitioner, treating patients with dermatologic conditions, performing skin cancer screenings, shave and punch biopsies, and varying types of Intense Pulsed Light treatments.  Ms. Benton has been with Southern Maryland Skin Specialists since 2007.

ImageMelissa Veneracion, PA-C is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who has been with Anne Arundel Dermatology since 2004.  She is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she received both her Bachelors of Health Sciences degree and Masters of Physician Assistant degree.  Melissa has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and has performed hundreds of skin cancer screenings and has assisted on over 6,000 skin cancer surgeries.  To remain nationally certified, Ms. Veneracion completes over 100 continuing medical education hours every two years and takes a board certifying exam every 6 years.  She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

ImageAnn Odle, PA-C completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiological Sciences from the University of Maryland at College Park.  Subsequently she received her certificate as a Physician Assistant from Anne Arundel Community College, while also  completing a Masters degree in Medical Science from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania.  Ann is licensed by the state of Maryland and nationally certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCPPA).  With this certification, she is able to write prescriptions and provide quality medical care, including diagnosis and treatment.  She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants.

 Amy Hoffman, PA-C is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who joined Anne Arundel Dermatology in January 2010.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Hoffman then began a 10 year career in neurophysiology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.  An honors graduate af Anne Arundel Community College's Physician Assistant program, she completed an elective clinical clerkship in Dermatology with Drs. Angela Peterman and Allan Harrington.  She earned a Masters degree in Medical Science from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania.  Her postgraduate experience includes private occupational medicine as well as internal medicine at Franklin Square Hospital.  Mrs. Hoffman completes over 100 continuing medical education hours every two years.  She is a current member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

ImageColeen M. Barrack has been an active member of the beauty industry since the early 1980’s.  After leaving a career in Early Childhood education, Ms Barrack started as a Make-up Artist and Skin Care Specialist for Estee Lauder in l986. Her many accomplishments include opening a Skin Care and Make-up Studio for Estee Lauder in Washington, D.C. as well as becoming a training instructor and lecturer for the prestigious Von-Lee School of Aesthetics. Ms Barrack is a licensed Esthetician and has been involved with successful Dermatology practices.  She changed her focus in the beauty industry as result of significant client interaction.  Most clients were not receiving optimal results from their normal over the counter skin care products. Spa like facials were also not delivering the expected therapeutic change the client so desperately wanted. In order to fill this overwhelming need, Coleen decided to become associated with the Dermatology field to better fulfill the needs of her clients and to create medically supervised therapeutic results.

Handwerger, MD received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Medical Degree from the University of Maryland.  His internship was in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.  While completing a three year Fellowship in Dermatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, he served as chief resident for two years.  He was also an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Handwerger was a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology.  He was Board Certified by the American Academy of Dermatology.  He is now retired.
